ICS provides live and online education developed to help individuals discerning their call to ministry and those seeking general courses for personal and group spiritual formation.
This class will focus on reviewing the content taught and the practical application of the content for the students. In addition, summer assignments will be explained and assigned.
Students will meet at Church of the Messiah to take their exam. Students should bring their completed Fieldwork Manual to the exam. A review of the year and summer instructions will be given.
While worldly calendars mark national and commercial holidays, the church embraces a liturgical approach to time, centered on the life of Jesus. In this course, students will explore the rhythms and rituals of liturgical time, focusing on the church calendar, vestments, Daily Office, Sunday Eucharist, and the narrative of salvation.
Deacons serve as a vital bridge between the church and the world. They are ordained members of the clergy who embody Christ’s servant ministry within and beyond the church. While priests are charged with shepherding God’s people, deacons are called to be agents of God’s compassion and reconciling grace in the world, while bringing the needs, hopes, and concerns of the world to the church. Their role is unique, symbolizing Christ’s servanthood in the liturgy, the community, and in their advocacy for a just and caring society.
